Antiogua Decaf

The journey of our Colombian Decaf begins at Finca Cristalina, a farm with over a century of coffee-growing history nestled in the Antioquia region. Alberto and German, the current stewards of the farm, inherited the land from their father in 2015 and have continued the tradition of producing top-quality coffee with a modern touch.

The decaffeination process used for this coffee is just as unique as its flavor. It employs the Sugar Cane Ethyl Acetate (EA) method, which is celebrated for maintaining the coffee's natural taste while removing the caffeine. In this method, the beans are first soaked in near-boiling water to open their pores and extract the caffeine. Next, the beans are washed in ethyl acetate, a naturally occurring solvent derived from local sugar cane. This bonds with the caffeine and evaporates, allowing the beans to reabsorb their original flavors. The result is a decaf that retains the complex notes of grapefruit, walnut, and caramel, with a smooth body and vibrant finish.

Finca Cristalina is a reflection of the dedication and meticulous care Alberto and German invest in every step of the coffee-making process. Their attention to detail, from hand-sorting cherries before and after fermentation to using sustainable practices. By choosing this decaf, you're not only enjoying a delicious coffee, but also supporting a legacy of quality and sustainability that has been passed down through generations in the Antioquia region.
