Colombia Aponte Honey is back and better than ever, returning to our lineup after becoming one of the most requested coffees we have ever roasted. Grown in the Inga community of Aponte in the mountains of Nariño, this coffee carries a story as remarkable as its flavor. The Inga people are descendants of the ancient Inca and lived in isolation for centuries, protected by the steep terrain that surrounds their homes. That same isolation turned dangerous in the 1990s when armed groups forced the community into producing illicit crops. For years, the region was marked by violence and instability..
about the process
Everything changed within the last decade as the community reclaimed their land and turned to coffee. Today, Caturra trees flourish at 2150 meters, nourished by ash from the nearby Galeras Volcano. Producers process the coffee on their own properties, using raised bed solar dryers to create the signature honey process that highlights incredible sweetness and complexity. The result is a cup filled with lush red fruit, tropical notes, and a silky honey like sweetness. It is a celebration of resilience, craftsmanship, and one of the most exciting coffee producing regions in Colombia. A true return to form for a community and a coffee that continues to inspire.
